Western Oregon has a variety of rivers and creeks supplied by our famous rainfall and the melting of Winter snows. I love the look of a creek with water cascading down moss covered rocks, but every now and then something else catches my eye.

Roaring Creek

Roaring Creek is one of my favorite places to take photographs. I try to get back there at least once every year. I just love the mossy water covered rocks as the water works its way down to the Breitenbush River below.

Hiking upstream or downstream (what there is of it) opens up an endless number of possibilities for photographs.

WELL WORTH the trip.

Directions

From Salem head East on Hwy 22 until Detroit. Turn left onto Hwy 46 and go about 11 miles in.
turn right on Forest Service road# 4685.
Continue about 2.5 miles in and you will see this on the left side of the road.

You can park at the trailhead on the right side of the road and walk to this, or take the trail to a picturesqe bridge over the creek.
